The name of the duo “INSOMNIA” is taken directly from the title of this body of work, that has been the first connection between their artistic practices. Insomnia is an ongoing series of works characterized by the use of acrylic painting directly on the photograph fine art prints. Each work is a unique high quality print and hand painted afterwords. Those painted elements, mostly animals and plants, transform the crude reality of the pictures into something dreamlike, with a dark atmosphere and a fairy tale flavor. A bird flying from a prison cell, a dog guarding a gang member, a handcuffed women holding a flower. If you could touch and see what is not present in matter but in feeling, in a mixture of hope and desperation, you would get 'Insomnia'. This work is about that. Is about wonder. Is guessing the invisible truth. It's the thoughts that run through your mind late night. It's not a nightmare, not a dream. It's Insomnia. As invisible as love, as untouchable as rage.
